On April 5, 2024, a business conference on investment in China will take place at the Hotel Maritim in Stuttgart. A high-ranking delegation will arrive in Stuttgart for this event, attended by almost 100 top representatives from trade policy, business development and the country’s companies. Interested companies from Germany can arrange appointments for 1:1 meetings with companies.
China continues to be an important market for companies from Germany and remains a target for direct investment. According to the German Economic Institute (IW), German direct investment in China reached a record value of 11.9 billion euros in 2023. This corresponds to an increase of 4.3 percent compared to the previous year. The Business Confidence Survey 2023/24 published by the German Chamber of Foreign Trade in China also confirms the confidence of German companies in the future of the Chinese market: more than half of the companies surveyed plan to increase investments in China in the next two years. The report describes China’s importance for the German economy as “still unique”
China’s large consumer market, infrastructure, supply chains and growing capacity for innovation are important factors in ensuring that the country remains one of the most important markets for German companies. China continues to attach great importance to direct investment from Germany: With the “Year of Investment in China”, the People’s Republic of China’s trade policy is stepping up its efforts to attract foreign investment and intensify dialog with foreign companies. The aim is to achieve a better range of business promotion services and strengthen the confidence of foreign investors.
In this context, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM) is hosting the “Invest in China” Germany Session conference in Stuttgart on April 5, 2024. A high-ranking delegation from the country’s trade policy, economic regions and leading companies will also be attending. It will be led by Ling Ji, Deputy Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China.
The aim of the conference is to promote cooperation between Chinese and German companies. At the conference at the Maritim Hotel in Stuttgart, there will also be the opportunity to hold individual discussions with companies from China, who in turn will explore opportunities for cooperation and investment in Germany.
